Is it possible to set up my sonic.net email address as my default in the Mac Calendar program? I have only been able to set up gmail, yahoo, or iCloud etc., but not sonic. Thanks. /Larry

Email addresses do not have calendars.

If you are asking if sonic has a calendaring service, they do not (unlike Google, Yahoo, or iCloud).

Thanks. Yes, that is what I was asking. I was hoping to be able to use my sonic.net account to send reminders to with events on my calendar. I do it with an iCloud address but would have liked to have been able to change that to sonic.net Doesn't look like this is possible. /Larry

I'd suggest sticking with iCloud calendar. While it would be nice if sonic had a full-fledged email, contacts, and calendaring suite, that's not going to happen.

I'm currently using iCloud for contacts and calendars, and they've been working well (I use sonic and other places for email). There's even push support. There's also some (hidden) support for backing up your contacts and calendars, although that often requires the use of the command-line. The only real issue is that you have to use a mac's calendar app to manage subscribed iCloud calendars, such as US Holidays, Earth seasons, sunrise/sunset, etc.; amazingly, you can't use a web browser, a pc, or even an iPhone/iPad.

You could also use google for contacts and calendars, but there's no push support (unless you pay google for a paid account). The usual privacy issues exist, too.

???

I don't have a paid Google account, but when I make an update to my calendar or contacts (through web, Android device, or iOS device), the others are updated almost instantaneously.

Free google accounts only do push with android devices (and maybe the web -- I haven't tested that). iOS users with free accounts lost access to push services, back in 2013. There was a special exemption for existing users of google's exchange-based services, but that was tied to the existing iOS device. As soon as you upgraded/switched to a different iOS device, you lost access. Today, you cannot get push services on iOS with a free google account, because you can no longer use the Microsoft Exchange access method; instead, you have to use the "Google" access method, which is fetch-only (no push).

OIC. I guess my iOS device is grandfathered. My primary handheld is my Android phone, which syncs with several Gmail accounts as well as my employer's Exchange mailbox.
