Where to buy a cable for Pace modem?

I recently leased a Pace 4111N modem from Sonic. The round green cable that connects from the DSL Broadband connector in the modem to the phone splitter (?) is only 15 feet. I need one that's 25 feet.

I've checked with Sonic tech support and they don't sell them. Suggested that I get one from Fry's, or Radio Shack. Support also said to be certain that the connectors had only 2 pins in them, not the usual 4.

I've checked with both Fry's and Radio Shack and they don't carry them.

Any idea where I could buy it on the web? I've done a search and can't find it anywhere on line. Maybe I don't know what to search on(?) Thought it was a data cable, cat 5/ RJ11 connector but could be wrong.

Thanks for any help. At a loss here.

That's a standard telephone cable. My guess is that they recommended one with only two pins because single line DSL only uses two pins, and the other two pins could potentially pick up interference, but I have not experienced any problem using a telephone cable with 4 pins. They definitely sell them at both Fry's and Radio Shack.

If possible, you want a cable that uses twisted pairs and not the typical "flat satin" phone cord. The twist is very important for reducing interference with DSL.

You're looking for something like this:

The fact that the DSL line is running for thousands of feet before it reaches your house (and that wire is often quite old, not twisted, etc) means that unless you actually have some source of interference nearby, it is highly unlikely that the last 25' of cable being twisted/untwisted is actually going to make much of a difference.

All of the copper wire is absolutely twisted, shielded and (hopefully - this is one of the bigger problems for DSL) properly grounded and bonded. If it isn't, you would not be able to get DSL to work at all. Great effort it made to ensure that the twist ends as close a possible (small fractions of an inch) to our equipment and is maintained throughout the cable plant.

Called tech support to confirm the suggested Belkin modem would work.

At first was told the cable should have RJ45 connectors (Belkin has RJ11) but then was told that RJ11 should work as well. Then noticed that the Belkin has 4 pins (from the zoom photo) and asked about that (since I was told it has to be 2 pin). Helpful tech checked with lead tech to confirm that it must indeed be a 4 pin. So what I need is a "4 pin twisted pair phone cord with preferably RJ45 connectors". So I was ready to start the search over again with this info.

However, the tech had another suggestion, not as convenient to my particular situation but one which will keep me from going nuts searching for the right cable. Just get a longer Ethernet cable (easier to come by) to pull the modem back toward the telephone jack, rather than the reverse.

Got to hand it to the tech....a little thinking outside the box and hopefully my problem is solved.

Thanks to everyone for the info posted.

It sounds like there's some confusion. The modem to phone connection is an RJ11 as are the majority of jacks for phone line distribution in a home. The ethernet lan side are RJ45.

Thanks for that clarification. Yes, there's been a lot of confusion.......mostly on my side. Seemed like a simple request to start with. Turned out to be a whole lot more.
