I finally got 10gb fiber a couple of weeks ago. Very happy with the install and the speed. However, I would like to get closer to the 10gb. I realize that my router and motherboard chip only goes up to 1gb. So I am currently getting less than I would like to have. I am looking at TP-Link BE800 router and TX-401 NIC. I purchased the NIC first so that I could be sure the NIC would work in my older computer (Asus Z170). The MB doesn't have a PCIe x4 slot which is required for the NIC. It does have an open PCIe x16 slot of which I installed the NIC. It installed without issues. But, when I run any speed test it disconnects from the internet and I have to boot the computer. Sometimes the speed test will complete and sometimes stop before finishing If I don't run a speed test the NIC seems to work fine on the internet. I spent couple of hours with TP-Link chat and no change in the issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'd recommend that you buy an Intel 10gbe nic off ebay. Something like this should work fine and is pretty cheap. Hopefully it will be stable in your MB. ;)
