Hi! My service drop just happened and I was wondering if the excess could be used to locate the transition box indoors near everything else or does it have to be outside? Thanks! Bob

I think the termination box has to be outside so it's accessible without entering the premise.
From there a separate fiber is run to where your ONT will be.
Can be in the room just above but it can be elsewhere in the house if the fiber can be run in the basement/crawl space easily.

FWIW I was able to have my transition box installed inside my networking closet (where the ONT is also located), but I did provide a clean path with conduit from the drop connection point to the closet and it wasn't a very long run. My drop and install also occurred on the same day, so I was able to chat with the installer in advance of routing the cable.
