Thinking of transfering to Sonic: questions

Hi there -

I'm currently using Earthlink for phone/DSL and Total Choice Hosting for my website.

I need to get off Earthlink as my phone line is essentially unusable and after many many many hours on with phone support who insist my lines are clear and have no echo, I just can't do it anymore. Can I keep my phone number if I transfer from Earthlink to Sonic.net?

Total Choice is pretty good, but do not offer shell access. They do offer mailman, though. Does Sonic.net offer mailman lists support for domains? I host a few small, low traffic lists of friends.

Also, is there a service to transfer the files from my current hosting provider? I used to use hotmetal to sync/push/pull my website, but that software is no longer offered (I don't care if I have to buy separate software for this, just looking for guidance).

Yes! Sonic.net helps you handle the number port at no extra charge, just be sure to not cancel service for your existing number before ordering with Sonic.

Thanks for all the great links! This will make my transition easier. I'll probably do DSL/Phone first, then transfer my domain.

If I just had shell access to my current domain, I could just tar it up. Alas, no such luck! I can use sftp, though, so I'll start pulling down the files.
