I get the same result whether I use the AT&T DNS servers or the Google DNS servers. It really doesn't seem like that's the problem.

I was referring to the IP of the content server not the DNS servers ip. However, knowing which DNS is being used would be helpful but as you stated is not likely to be the problem.

DNS is not an issue here that's for sure .

I was reading an article today about the New York Star Attorney creating a website that tests connection speed from different peers:

The idea is this website at some point could be used by other states to investigate peering issues. If someone is having an issue with youtube bandwidth it would be interesting to know what performance from this test is like.

No, problem still exists today 6:50PM. 207 Kbps.

If you can get a screenshot of the video with the stats for nerds overlay.

On my end I'm having no issues tonight.

I didn't mean to imply that the issue was resolved, only that some of the individuals in this thread were experiencing it less frequently. Rest assured, we're actively working on this and toward resolution so that this does not persist.

Youtube is throttling me down to 144p, claiming there isn't sufficient bandwidth; if i try to go to anything higher res, I just get the spinning dots for ages.

I can then go to amazon prime and start streaming in obvious 1080p crisp and clear, no pauses, no stutters, nothing.

So, clearly this is upstream of sonic, but it sure is annoying!

I'm hitting youtube throttling now (~7:50 to 8:05+ pm)
