Hello,
Would be interested in seeing if Sonic.net would reach a hand out to the fiber network currently being rolled out in San Leandro, CA: http://litsanleandro.com/. It looks like it is available for businesses only, and it seems doubtful that it will reach residential complexes due to its very new nature.

It may however, be an area of interest for Sonic.net to piggyback on, since a section of the customers located in the city that i've spoken to are served by RTs (which are ineligible for Fusion, of course). Most of the network is underground and routed through conduits, and the area tends to be friendly to new businesses (since the city has traditionally been business/industrial/mfg).

cheers

Yes, I've been following the San Leandro effort. I expect it will end up being a network a bit like those elsewhere around the Bay Area, offering access to business premises primarily. Unlike places like San Jose, Palo Alto and San Francisco, the City of San Leandro didn't have a carrier other than the two incumbents, and neither of them will sell dark fiber resources - only lit services. So, this effort will bring some great new options to San Leandro businesses.

Here is the website with details on what they are up to: http://litsanleandro.com/

Does this mean anything in terms of Fiber service for residential users? Perhaps something Sonic can get access to and bridge the gap so fiber is available to residential users?
