I’m wondering about using MySQL on a site in my sonic account, www.mediazsoftware.com. I want to use it as a key/value store of JSON, for use in a web application; and while the usage and database size will not be large, it needs to be fast. Do you have any performance metrics on your MySQL? Also, do you have an in-memory caching solution like memcached that we can use to improve performance?

David, I think you'll find that the SQL servers when combined with good database design should be fast enough for what is considered reasonable use by us (and then some, the servers are mostly idle.) We do not offer anything like memcached for our customers at this time. Should you find that our standard hosting offerings don't provide enough performance or are too latent it is possible that our custom hosting service will be less latent.
