I've started to use my @sonic.net email address for email but have old email still in GMail. Is there any way to import the GMail emails so that they would be in my sonic email account?

You can but it depends on how you use the email first.

There is currently no option to import from regular webmail from the website.

If you have a email client such as outlook there is an import tool to do that. You can find that here : https://support.office.com/en-ie/articl ... 04b9c44bf7

I believe other email clients do this as well and a google search should bring up how to do that.

Thanks. I don't use Outlook. Sounds like it may be tricky to get this done.

Gmail can be configured to look like an IMAP mail server. (The Big G will try to tell you this is Bad For Security, because it involves password authentication over a protocol that can be automated. How this differs from their webmail is left as a question for the reader.) Sonic is an IMAP mail server. It is possible to copy messages between IMAP mail servers. I've done up some Perl scripts to do this sort of thing, some years ago, and they may need some care and feeding.

Or you could use an IMAP mail reader like Thunderbird or Mulberry to get something with a drag-and-drop interface.

From the armchair quarterbacking dept:

There is an import option on the Sonic webmail settings page. I haven't tried it, as I don't use Sonic for my email. But it says that it supports .eml and .mbox format. You can use the Google support for exporting your GMail. And then you would need to convert whatever format they provide into mbox or eml format. I imagine that the GMail export is some form of mbox.

This was intended for moving in the opposite direction, but the process is basically the same:
