can't connect to pop.sonic.net behind wifi extender

I recently bought and installed a Netgear WN2000RPT v2 wifi extender to get a wired port for my linux desktop. I also connect using XP from an old laptop.
When I try to get mail using evolution on Fedora, I get 'Could not connect to pop.sonic.net: Host lookup failed: pop.sonic.net: Name or service not known'.
I get a similar message when I connect through the extender using wifi on my laptop.
If I connect directly to wifi on the sonic dsl modem/wifi, I get mail no problem through outlook. I think this is a dns configuration problem between the extender, and the sonic modem/router, but haven't been able to resolve it.
Any advice?

Very odd. Maybe contact support for Netgear?

Do you have our Name servers set in the laptop? 208.201.224.11 and 208.201.224.33 and can you ping or traceroute (i.e. resolve) pop.sonic.net?

From my wired Linux box, I can ping sonic.net, and i can traceroute to 209.204.190.64, but when I try traceroute to sonic.net, i get: 'Name or service not known. Cannot handle "host" cmdline arg `sonic.net' on position 1 (argc 1)'
My laptop, via wireless, can ping sonic.net, but I don't have traceroute available.

Two things:
A) What's the output when you run 'cat /etc/resolv.conf' on your Fedora box?
B) Traceroute is in XP, it's just named "tracert"

ok, tracert resolves on the laptop, and was also able to get mail in outlook over the extender... ;-}
Evolution appears to be connecting to the mailservers, but not downloading ----
That's a different problem.
I'm not sure what changed, but it appears to be working - FM....
Thanks for your time and interest.
cat /etc/resolv.conf:
nameserver 192.168.1.254 - this is the address of the router..
nameserver 192.168.1.250
