Hardware redundancy

We use Sonic Fusion for Internet and voice connectivity. It occurred to me recently that if the AT&T U-verse unit failed, we would lose both and have trouble contacting Sonic for a replacement. Is this a reasonable concern, and what's a good way to mitigate this single point of failure? I've had to power off the unit a couple times to straighten it out but it has never failed irretrievably. Still, there is always a first time.
