Total Bill for FTTH in San Francisco

Hi,

I'm thinking about signing up for Fiber (FTTH) in the Sunset District of San Francisco.

I would like to know the total bill that others are currently paying.

What is the price that people are currently paying for the first year (with discount): Fiber Service + RG Rental + fees/taxes - discount? Looking at other posts, I think that this might be about $62, right?

What is the price that people are paying after the first year (without the RG): Fiber Service + fees/taxes?

I suppose it makes sense to use the RG at first and then return it before the start of the second year. I'd rather use my own WiFi Router anyway. Any hassles with returning the RG?

It's 62~ dollars a month for the first year, with out without the discount.
It jumps up to 72~ if you wish to rent after the first 12 months. Otherwise if you return it, it's again 62~.

You have to ship it back to Sonic for about 10~ or you can drive to Santa Rosa to give the modem back.
You cannot refuse the modem during install. There's no real hassle outside of the stated expenses in returning it.

You can use your own FTTN modem?

You don't need a FTTN "modem" if you don't want/need the phone service. We hooked the jack that the Pace FTTN device plugs into directly into our own router and it works great. One caveat is that without that Pace device, Sonic can't do testing as easily. But no need for it. Return it, save the $$.

Our bill is 63.16 a month. We don't use the voice aspects, but don't know how to not get them. Regardless, $63 a month is a deal for the speed of the service so I have no complaints. Although I'd rather that money go all to Sonic rather than the regulators.

This is wrong. I doubt Sonic will let you return the modem back to them under FTTN or else you are effectively cancelling your account or simply kicking yourself off the internet. The specific pace modem you get is required for authentication over the AT&T network.

Please don't confuse FTTN with FTTH. They are very different Sonic services.

This. Is there any chance of an internet-only service tier which doesn't involve paying $12/mo in taxes for a service I don't plan to use?
