Use SmartRG for WiFi or use another option?

I've been trying to use the SmartRG router for it's WiFi and I noticed my connection to be extremely spotty. The 5G connects at 300Mbps, but I can rarely ever get half of my synced VDSL speed ( about 59Mbps ). It will top out at 25Mbps and regularly do < 10Mbps.
Anyone else have suggestions?
