First off, I had fiber installed last week (a very professional and painless process) and have been very happy with it and Sonic overall. So thanks for providing a great product.

My one hiccup has been while attempting to play Blizzard's recent release, Overwatch. In game, I have a ping and RTT (round trip time?) which spike every 5 or so seconds. This essentially wreaks havoc on the game play. Other internet activities seem very stable and speedy in general.

I'm not a networking guy at all, but saw a forum post elsewhere for people with similar issues which suggested running WinMTR to the Blizzard server at 37.244.0.3. I did this today, and let it run for about 10 minutes, and these are the results:

I also ran it last night briefly and got similar results, although not nearly as bad with the loss % on ae0.cr2.lsatca11.sonic.net.

As I mentioned, I'm no networking guy, but could the two sonic segments showing high ping and loss % be a culprit? Is it possible I have a setting wrong on my end? I'd love any suggestions or tips that anyone might have, as I'd have no idea where to troubleshoot from here.

Thanks again.

The thing to know about running trace routes is that a lot of those hops are not going to have high prioritization for ICMP traffic.

Are you connecting your computer via Ethernet or Wireless?

That's your problem. WiFi is half duplex, you have contention from not only people in your household but other signals. People think WiFi is great but I think it sucks and I would only use it if the device has no wired interface or if there is no alternative.

Unfortunately, I'm a couple weeks removed from a knee surgery, so running lines in the house is out of the question at the moment. As is moving to the router.

But if that is the case, then I can accept the situation as is and be content with what I have. Thanks for the input!
