Can't connect via wireless if I change SSID or password

Hello,

I just started on Sonic a few days ago, and I am using the Pace 5268AC gateway. If I use the factory settings of SSID and password, I can connect just fine via a wireless adaptor. But, if I try changing either of these, Windows 7 will no longer connect and indicates that it has an issue with the router. My wife IS able to connect with her MacBook Air at this point, so this indicates to me that the problem is not with the gateway, but with some issue with Windows. If I press the red reset button in the back to return to the defaults, I am once again able to connect wirelessly. At this point I HAVE changed the SSID and password, and I must use an Ethernet cable to plug in directly to the gateway. Has anyone seen anything like this, or have any ideas?

Thanks

The Pace 5268AC actually has both a 2.4Ghz channel and 5.0Ghz channel. Have you changed both of them, or just one? (If you scroll down on that configuration page, you'll see a second set of options specifically for the 5.0Ghz channel). I strongly recommend changing one or both SSID's to reflect what frequency they use (so one may be something like 'MyWiFi 2.4G' and the other might be 'MyWiFi 5G'). If you are still having problems, let us know! You can also contact our technical support 8AM-10PM every day of the week at (707)547-3400.

Sometimes, when you change the security settings of a wireless access point, Windows won't connect to a previously known AP that has changed in some way. Usually just changing the password doesn't cause this issue and will typically just ask again for the key.

In order to connect with the new password, you'll need to remove the old settings from Windows.

To do this you'll have to remove the old wireless network. You can follow the steps here to do so. Hope that helps.
