I just started working on an existing project and we have some https://ssl.sonic.net links on the site. Where is this file coming from? I tried updating the file I found on our host but when loading the ssl link, the page is not updating with the new changes.

It sounds like the website is on the old Secure Web Hosting product. Those files can be accessed using SFTP to ssl.sonic.net using the appropriate user/password combo. (same as the main website)
