self owned modem allowed?

Are sonic customers allowed to use their own modem? If so is there a list anywhere of recommended modems? I'm considering upgrading from slow DSL to FTTN service. Would like to get a new modem regardless as the current one is getting a little long in the tooth. Also I like the router we use, so I don't want to have to use Sonic's combo router/modem device.

On FTTN the modem rental is obligatory unfortunately. With non FTTN Fusion products you can opt out of the modem rental after the first 30 days of service.
