Anyone have problems w their computer crashing after Fusion install? Hours after getting Sonic modem & ATA installed, my iMac started crashing. no problems ever before. it crashes doing anything, not just while on Internet. I tested my hardware and it's fine.
if I unplug the Ethernet, my iMac works fine, Snowleopard OSX 10.6.8 Sonic tech says my computer has a problem, but I don't agree. anyone have any ideas or had similar issues?

Hello,

Try disabling IPv6. You can do that by going into System Preferences, then to Network, then select Ethernet and click on Advanced. On the first page that comes up (TCP/IP), there will be a section 'Configure IPv6', it will be set to Automatic. Switch it over to disabled and click Okay. Do the same for Airport and test.

I just today spent time on this, thanks for the suggestion but I still have the problem. It shows that Internet is connected, but I can't actually get to any sites. I restarted after making the changes, and kept airport off just to have one less thing to deal with.

Wireless is working perfectly with iPad, phone, tv.
Anything else you can think of for me to try?

Can you check what DNS/Nameserver addresses are being use on the iMac?

Would that be DNS server? Sorry, I'm not very tech

Yup. I am wondering if there is a DNS server listed that is not reachable from the Sonic network.

Or if you are on FTTN (without using the VPN) you can't reach the Sonic DNS servers. In that case the AT&T servers are the default. And to add even more fun and confusion, if you do use the VPN you will not be able to reach the AT&T servers anymore but will be able to use the Sonic set. Some people point to open DNS servers like the google set when playing with stuff like that so they know they will always have reachable servers in their configs.

Generally your systems would pick up the DNS servers via DHCP, so all would either work or not work depending on what the gateway was serving up. But for a case where one devices has a problem it is wise to look for "hard coded" server settings.

Proxy? Recently ran into a situation where phone-via-wifi was fine but desktop was no-go. Eventually found an unexpected proxy setting on the desktop machine; flipped it back to normal and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Or at least as smooth as expected.
