Usenet service

I've always viewed Sonic's support of a usenet server one of the things that helps set them apart, but according to the latest info I can find here, it's one failure away from being gone for good.

I'm also assuming it won't be reachable from users on the FTTN product, since they're not served by Sonic's internal network.

With that in mind, does anyone have any recommendations for a 3rd party usenet service? Sometimes it's hard to separate the sarcasm from the serious comments when the topic is discussed.

Were any affiliate partnership deals ever established through Sonic?

At least for some, the internet is still more than the WWW.

You *can* get to it from FTTN. I simply had to switch over to authenticated access. Worked fine.

Never tired this so can't give a personal recommendation, but I have heard of it often over the years:

Personal recommendation: works fine for me, for several years now. I had several problems with Sonic's Usenet servers and gave up on them.

You can? I assume it's the standard user login and password?

That's a pleasant surprise, but I'll gladly accept it as long as it lasts.

Thanks for the tips.

Yes, the same username and password you could login to the forums with :ugeek:

The same username and password that would let you lot into member tools for an account that grants internet access. Email-only accounts can log into the forums but don't necessarily have privileges elsewhere (like the VPN concentrator).
