iPad Air 2 compatibility with router

In researching the new iPad Air 2 I read that this iPad now has 802.11 ac Wi-Fi capabilities, and that users should make sure their routers are compatible with the ac standard. In speaking with Sonic tech support he said that they use N routers still, however his understanding is that the iPads are backwards compatible.

SO. . . anyone out there with an iPad Air 2 know if I have to worry about the router?

You should not have to worry as per Sonic tech support advice. Backwards compatibility is a given with routers. I have not heard of one not working that way unless it is somehow defective or improperly configured.
