Question about upcoming Bonding and Uverse Plans

So I know that ATT is laying Uverse framework in the city of Millbrae.

And from what I have read here, Dane says that sonic will piggyback off of the Uverse framework where available.

So with the bonding plan coming out for an additional $20 which should provide me ~20mbps down/2 mbps up.

So when Uverse is laid out which could also provide hypothetically equal or greater than the bonded line, would I be able to "downgrade" to that for the lower cost of just one line?

I guess it is just a whole bunch of theorycrafting, but just trying to lay out my own plan.

Contract with DirecTv is coming due in March so I may be making some changes *cough* Sh!tty Comcast...

And I know the word is "changes will be happening soon", anymore updates in that regard?

In any given location we will either offer one network or the other, so you wouldn't be making a selection about which network to be on. We'll check coverage and estimate speed for both platforms, and offer you whichever solution is best for your location. Best bet is to wait a little bit, as all of these things are still in design and implementation now, so there's lots of items in the process which are not fully formed.

Regarding your DTV contract, you might consider a Sonic television solution. Check back in late February or early March, before you make a decision.

Will there be an option to purchase the equipment instead of renting it? I have no need for the wire service included with the rental.

Not for the AT&T platform service, no. For the bonding service you could in theory supply your own equipment, but it's hard to find compatible modems for bonding, and for VDSL.

Why not with the AT&T platform? That may force me to seriously consider switching to DSL Extreme.

Disappointing. DSLx started off with the same required-rental position but apparently there was enough of a revolt in their support newsgroups to cause a quick change of heart, hopefully that will also be the case here.

The more I hear about this Uverse resales plan the worse it sounds. I appreciate that Sonic is probably very constrained by their access agreement with AT&T, which AFAICT under current law AT&T wasn't obliged to make. But frankly, the reason I've been a Sonic customer is to be insulated from all the predatory AT&T crap.

Thanks for the updates Dane. Hopefully the new stuff will be up and running when my contract with DTV ends.

This is the first I have heard of a Sonic TV offering, is it different from DTV? As long as you guys carry NBATV I will be happy!

Disappointing to say the least. :-(

Nobody can resell the UVerse derived AT&T product without using AT&T provided CPE. We either need to pass the cost of equipment to us directly to the consumers, bundle it in to the cost of the product or as a required equipment rental.

I understand that. Both AT&T and DSL Extreme offer the option to purchase the modem for $100. I don't understand why Sonic won't do the same.
