i looked up the DNS servers provided by Sonic customer service 208.201.204.11 and 208.201.224.33 using whois.domaintools.com and noticed under organization name and address these servers are MCI/Verizon servers although on the 'surface' they are labeled as Sonic servers.

When I type in Whoami in my browser I the IP address that came back was 50.1.94.1 or 50.1.94.253.
when I run whois.domaintools.com on these servers the organization name and address is indicated as Sonic in Santa Rosa.

Can u please use domaintools and look at all these servers and the organizations who run them and please explain the discrepancy? i frankly don't trust verizon/AT&T (due to NSA cooperation and their significant revenue stream/NSA reimbursement for turning over confidential customer info without a warrant) and would prefer to use a DNS server owned and operated by Sonic - in more than just name.

Thanks for your help!

208.201.224.0/19 is an allocation that we received from UUNet a long, long time ago. There's no relation to UUNet/MCI/Verizon at this point except for the fact that the block is carved out of 208.192.0.0/10 which they "own". I don't know all of the history here but it is possible that we didn't meet the requirements for direct allocation by ARIN at the time we received the block from UUNet.
