I registered a domain name with sonic for my daughter's site which we built on googlesites. After many tries, the domainname *still* doesn't point to the site. Here is the most recent message we received from google:

Recommended action
If the site error rate is 100%:

* Use a WHOIS tool to verify that http://www.bessiezolno.com/ has a proper whois record and that nameservers are configured for the site. If not, contact your domain registrar to update your whois records.
* Using a DNS lookup tool, verify that the nameserver's name can be resolved to an IP address. If not, either update your whois record to contain an IP address for your nameserver, or update the DNS records for nameserver.
* Using a DNS lookup tool, verify that http://www.bessiezolno.com/ can be resolved to an IP address. If it can't, update the DNS record for http://www.bessiezolno.com/ on your nameserver

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

It appears not to be resolving DNS. Use the DNS tools to configure the domain to point to the Google site.

Carol,

You'll need to make a quick change in our Member Tools to point the domain name to your Google Sites page:

- Go to the following page and log in with your sonic.net username and password: https://members.sonic.net
- From the menu on the left, choose: Web Sites / Domain Names -> Edit DNS -> Modify Host Records
- Click the 'Modify' button next to bessiezolno.com
- Under 'Add a new Record', give it a name like 'www', change the 'Type' to 'CNAME', and change the 'Record' to be 'ghs.googlehosted.com'.
- Click 'Add Record'

Unfortunately, due to a limitation of how Google Sites functions, only www.bessiezolno.com will work - the shortened bessiezolno.com will not go to the site. (See 'Notes on changing your URL' at: https://support.google.com/sites/answer/99448?hl=en)

Please let me know if you have any other questions or run into any trouble.
I'm a proud employee of Sonic.net! :-)
