I've had messages returned today that I had sent to two different users at Earthlink. I followed the procedure for protesting a block after the first one, but that was several hours ago and now it's happened again.

Patty, it looks like this may be related to a (seemingly) small change I made to our mail servers this afternoon. Please try to send your messages again.

Sorry, Kelsey, still bouncing. :-(

FYI, the first message that bounced was at 10:29 this morning, so a change you made this afternoon wouldn't have caused that.

I send email to one of those people quite frequently. I sent her a message yesterday afternoon successfully, then the one this morning bounced.

When I sent a report to Earthlink's abuse department this morning, I said, "You're blocking Sonic? Seriously??" :-)

Patty, could you send me a copy of the bounce message?

Sorry, I should have thought of that earlier! I've attached the latest bounce message below.

This bounced email (and the one just after 3:00 p.m. today) were sent from my Mac using Eudora. The one that bounced this morning was sent directly from my Sonic shell account using UNIX Mail. So the only commonality was the Sonic outgoing mail server.

Thanks Patty, this has been routed around for the time being and I've also reached out to the postmasters at earthlink to see if there is anything we can do to help prevent it from happening again.

Hey, thanks, Kelsey. I just re-sent one of the messages, and it hasn't bounced yet. As for the other friend, I picked up the phone and called her this afternoon. :-) We were making plans for lunch tomorrow, so I didn't want to risk waiting too long for the email situation to be resolved.

Drat, it's happening again. Same mail server blocked as previously:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<[email protected]>
(reason: 550 IP 64.142.111.80 is blocked by EarthLink. Go to earthlink.net/block for details.)

I just sent Earthlink a followup to my trouble ticket from a few days ago. Haven't heard a peep from them yet except for automated replies.

Well, naturally, now my mail to Earthlink abuse won't even go through, so I can't ask them about the status of my original trouble ticket...

I've rerouted mail again and will see if I can get a hold of a postmaster at Earthlink through other channels.
