An ADT setup technician left after just 5 minutes saying that he wouldn't set up the system over Sonic.net Fusion phone line.
Background
1. I just moved into a place that already has an ADT security system. I suspect the previous tenant had AT&T phone service.
2. I set up Sonic.net Fusion service for phone and Internet.
3. I called ADT to set up an appointment to (re-)activate service.
4. ADT calls to confirm we're technically ready and among other questions asks what phone service I have. I say Sonic.net and they say that they don't support it.
5. I do a little bit of research online and call Sonic.net tech support to confirm that ADT should work over Sonic.net. Part of what I learned was that Sonic.net simply needs to register ADT's DTMF tone (or something) and then it should work fine.
6. I call ADT to let them know their service should work over Sonic.net since the phone service is POTS, and the setup appointment is rescheduled.
Issue
Today the ADT technician arrived to set up service. He asks what phone service I have and I tell him it's Sonic.net, and he says that ADT doesn't support that service. I tell him that it's just POTS, that Sonic.net has many customers with ADT, and that it should work fine. He says something along the lines of:
Asks
Does anyone have information or stories about ADT systems having technical difficulties/issues over Sonic.net?
Can I get positive confirmation from Sonic.net or its customers that there are working ADT installations over Sonic.net Fusion?
Can Sonic.net help me communicate with ADT to help them understand that their service will work over Sonic.net Fusion, and provide consultation or support to the technician so they can/will proceed with setup?
Thanks!
Robert

He says that eligible services are AT&T POTS & U-verse or Comcast (VOIP), and then promptly leaves."Sonic.net varies voltage while adjusting Internet service parameters, and those changes may cause the security system to not work, which results in system vulnerability and exposes ADT to liability."
