When I am listening, say, to a radio station, and then unplug from the wall the radio stops playing -- suddenly there's no transmission. My battery shows 100%. The laptop is around a year old. This just started happening two days ago. This happens even when I have like 4 or 5 bars of connection with you. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

The first place I'd check is your power management settings. In my laptop's "power saver" mode (which I rarely use) there's an option to disable wifi when running off battery power (not plugged in).
