Constant high-speed download

I've been having a constant high-speed download to my ZyXEL 2-line router. I can't figure out where it is coming from, or to which machine (I run an iMac and a MacBook Air).

I ran Onyx to clean my iMac, but the download continued. I've shut off the MacBook Air, and I think that may have done it. I'll have to call back to Sonic.net to be sure.

I've tried to download Wireshark so that I can look at the network traffic, but it won't start at all (clicking on it attempts to launch it, then no icon appears, and the icon again appears in the folder).

Can anyone suggest how to approach this?

Rick

Shutting down the MacBook Air seems to be a key to something. My iMac was running smoothly, said Sonic.net support.

I've restarted the MacBook Air, disabling log items at startup. Ran Safari. It seems to run smoothly in Google--perhaps a little flicker. Something is clearly going wrong when running in Yahoo mail, & Facebook: a constant flicker of the dark parts of the screen.

Does any of this help?
