This is kinda a mixed blessing for Sonic, as Sonic has its own plans for Fiber in the Bay Area. But who knows? Maybe Google will contract with Sonic for this.

The fibering of America is a decade scale process, and there are plenty of communities to go around. They'll build one, we'll build another, etc. It's a big task, and it makes sense that it will take multiple companies to achieve it.

Kind of like wiring communities (and rural areas) for phones in the first half of the 20th century, and for cable TV in the middle of the century. Then the companies started buying each other.
