And it starts out about the practice of asking for credit card info before telling you service isn't available to you yet.

Other stuff I learned is that Sonic uses AT&T lines, they don't do their own construction, they don't own any fiber.

Upon pre-order, we do ask for your credit card information, but no charges will be made to the card until you've been installed. Pre-ordering is only available when we're currently in the process of deploying our Fiber service to the neighborhood and provides a promotional deal along with status updates on the progress of the project. In places where we aren't in the process of deploying our service yet and have no service available, we won't ask for any credit card info. However, we will provide a form to fill out with your contact info if you'd like to receive a notification when we've announced we're coming into your neighborhood.

Regarding using AT&T lines, this is something we used to do years ago before we started deploying our own Fiber infrastructure. We no longer use or resell AT&T lines/service, and all new sign-ups are for our Sonic Fiber service that uses all Sonic-owned infrastructure. The only customers we have that still have resold AT&T lines/service are pre-existing customers who were grandfathered in when we cut ties with AT&T.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Kind regards,
Brandon C.

It's Nextdoor, it's not exactly a place of good intelligence in the sense of accurate information.

But this is what happens when you don't offer service in an area for a couple years, people start making stuff up about you.
