Service in the Concord 94521 Area

Hi,

I pre-ordered back in December 2023, and I am still in the "planning" stage on the fiber status tool as of today (1/8/2025). I have seen Sonic trucks all up and down my street the last 1yr+ and there is a Sonic branded utility "cover" (don't know the proper name) at the end of our street near a major utilities pole. My assumption was that the fiber had at least been run down my street, but now I am not so sure. Any updates or information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I deeply apologize for the long wait. Unfortunately, we do face unforeseen complications or delays that are outside of Sonic's direct control. We are constantly working with the city to move past any restrictions or requirements before they will approve some areas for the buildout.

I’m wondering if I am ever going to get Sonic Fiber here in 94521. I signed up in June of 2023. First estimate was a couple months after I signed up still in 2023 and then it started to slip. Most recent update before today was June 2025, but today I checked and it’s now April 2026.

Also wondering about 94518 area. I signed up in 2023 and would do almost anything to get fiber at our home. Who do I need to be pestering to get this done? The city, PG&E, or someone else?

Similar to others in this thread, I am in 94518 and wondering when fiber will go live. I signed up a little later than most on 27 March 2024. My date has slipped 3 or 4 times, first pegging for late 2024, then changing to summer 2024, then end 2024, and now the latest has been pushed all the way out to late-Spring 2026 (May 2026).

I am wondering: 1) what is the specific hold up, and 2) is there a more finite date for this to go live than the Status Tool provides? If the project is in "Construction Phase" as it says, then I would think there should be a more firm and locked down go-live date now?

Really cannot wait to ditch XFinity, but May 2026 just seems so far away and at times, Sonic Fiber just seems like a pipe dream when I click the Status Tool and the date has slipped yet again without any true form of communication or reasoning.

From everything I have gathered you need to pester the city. They are the ones putting unrealistic demands on Sonic regarding bypass poles, which at least my my neighborhood have GREATLY delayed deployment. Basically the city is requiring Sonic to guarantee that the bypass poles are removed within a certain time period (1 year or less), yet Sonic doesn't have control of when the original poles will be replaced thus allowing Sonic to remove the bypass poles. The whole thing is ridiculous.

To make matters worse, the city seems to be holding Sonic to the fire while letting others skate the requirement. I say this since my power was shut off on Dec. 13th, 2023 so that PG&E could replace a pole. However to this day the bypass pole (or old pole) is still sitting next to the new one, Pole # 1938. I know it's not Sonic's bypass pole or I would already have service.

Looks like things are finally moving in the right direction. I just checked my status again, already prepared for disappointment, and had to do a double take. I thought it had slipped back again from April 2026 to August 2026, but once I cleared my eyes and did a double back I realized my expected date has actually moved up instead of moving back again. It's now August 2025!

This is the first time since signing up in 2023 that it's actually moved up so I'm pretty excited. Don't get me wrong, I'm not holding my breath and I'm still crossing my fingers that it holds, but this is a HUGE improvement.
