Per Sonic status: Your forecasted fiber live date is: October 2024. Today is 10/11. I did not get any call or email on installation pole to house optic wire. Should I expect to have the service as Sonic scheduled?

Response I got previously, unless something changed this still applies

"Hard to say with accuracy, we've been struggling both on the front end (permits) and the back end (available staffing for installations). This latter issue has caused us to hold some completed areas until we've got staff capacity, because if we don't do that, we'll end up many months out on installation intervals for customers in already active areas. If it's not one thing, it's another. But once we do activate an area, we're golden, and the 10Gbps service is certainly well worth the wait, even if it is frustrating.

So the answer is uncertain. The market is not easy for a small player.

The active date was pushed further to November 2024 as of today 10/24. My neighbors are talking about Starlink instead of any wired connection. I think it's a good option to avoid any power outages and internet service outages.

Sonic drop team stopped by my home for wiring fiber to home. They found street wire team did not extend fiber to the pole next to my home for some reason. The service team called to cancel my appointment on 11/16 and reschedule after the pole wire done. I'm speechless on this mistake after around a year waiting. It may be a bad sign on Sonic project or engineering management. A simple checklist will avoid this type of mistake.

It's a big disappointment that my service status pulled back to Planning as street team did not extend fiber to the pole next to my home. It's another evidence of bad management and planning. Have to return the hardware purchased for upgrading to 10gb service. I have a bad feeling the Sonic service may not be active in 2 years as the bad planning and management.

Mine went live a week or so ago, in the East Highlands. Spectacular installer, in and out in about 60 minutes.

And the most important thing - It's Not Comcast.

I'm very happy. Keep the faith - they will get to you. This is a small company, trying their best to make this work - we have fiber hanging on the poles, versus *many* other claims that we would get it, over the last 20 years. The fiber from AT&T has sat, unterminated, on Alum Rock for all of that 20 years.

And sonic support *absolutely* rocks. I had a minor issue (getting one /64 on IPv6 vs a /56). Certainly didn't stop the service from working on installation day. They solved it quickly.

Glad to know neighbor got the service. I called Sonic service several times and had some talks with the guys on phone. They are pretty frank that once the construction team missed a spot. It will take a long time to back to extend it. I did not get any clue on the path to move forward. The storm season is coming which will impact the construction further.

Called Sonic service today and got a bad news that Sonic gives up the service to my home. @davrand
As I thought when 2 times postpone, it's a confirmation of bad project and engineering management with Sonic.
Sonic will hold or cancel my account soon. Hope other exiting users are good luck with Sonic.
