02/24 I get get told positively that Sonics coming in a month or two.
It’s now Aug 30, 2024! My update on Sonics site says Go Live, August 2024! I have watched other posts with similarities and can only say WoW!
As a network engineer who worked for the co-inventor of ethernet, I have cabled, networked etc many of the large infrastructures in campuses, hi-rise buildings etc for most of the most famous bay area institutions. Lawrence Labs, SRI, Mare Island Naval Electronics, county governments, most big banks, high schools you name it. I can sympathize with issues, stoppages, supply problems, labor issues, permitting, all that Jazz! What i can’t forgive is the terrible communications leaving us hanging, hoping and praying every month for almost a year!
Sonic, please get it together and give me and us some reliable word of what to expect going forward. I’m about to go with ATT which sucks but less than comcast!

Hello!

Sadly, we are not able to provide a more exact timeframe for your area just yet. We hope that our construction teams can finish the work in a timely manner and get service to your location. If you need service while you wait, feel free to sign up with someone else. We offer Credit to customers that come from Comcast or Xfinity when it comes to any cancellation fees. Please use this link to find out more information about our Contract Buyouts.

Ross, it looks like you are scheduled for install Oct. 4. I am going to see if we can bump that up, you can expect to hear from us very soon.

Thanks,

With you on this. My "forecasted fiber live date" was June. Then July. Then August. Then September. Now October. I anticipate another 30 days will go by and it will get updated to November.

Welcome to the club... there is already a long post about this (viewtopic.php?t=17768) and some like me have been waiting for a LONG time and at the end of every month it just get updated to the next one... and the next one ..

viewtopic.php?t=17768&start=13

viewtopic.php?t=17768&start=27

viewtopic.php?t=17768&start=30

viewtopic.php?t=17768&start=36

viewtopic.php?t=17768&start=45

And it went like that every single month since .. and as expected just went from September 2024 to October 2024 ... and will just keep on going ... with no install in sight.
The status page is useless and not to be trusted...

Just thought I’d add a perspective. First, I’m a returning Sonic customer. I used to have them when I lived in the East Bay, but they did not have service in San Rafael - which they are now building out - and have been with XFinity. So, like many, I am waiting for this buildout to compete and go live. The good news is that the fiber line is hung on poles throughout the neighborhood. So, that’s a big milestone.

Second, when I had them before, their service was rock solid. I liked symmetric up/down speeds with no data caps at an affordable price! So, I’m excited to have rejoining them again soon (ideally soon).

And third, they aren’t very good at estimating area go-live dates. When I waited for their go-live in the East Bay, I did the “happy dance” when the cable was hung on the poles - this was premature and my excitement faded as weeks turned into month (and then months) without things visually progressing. That said…, once they take the next steps, things should proceed rather quickly from there.

Sharing my $0.02 only because this, in my experience, is their “normal”. So, I’m taking their go live dates as “optimistic”/“wishful thinking” until I see them put up the boxes (or whatever they put up) on the poles. That’ll be my sign to begin my happy dance! :)

Install went smoothly Oct 4 and couldn’t be happier! Hoping my landline is ported quickly before the next Comcast billing cycle!
Here’s my wifi 6 speediest within about 20’ to my new router to my M2 MacBook Air!
Pretty awesome almost wired ethernet speed!
I worked for Dr. Robert Metcalfe, co-inventor of ethernet at his company, 3Com.
Never thought I would see wifi like this or full 10gb fibre as Sonic does it but not surprised because I had some clients with earlier Sonic service. Their support was always prompt and hi class!
