ASUS RT-AX89X, MBP M1 (2021), QNA-T310G1T getting sub 10Gbps

Hi,

I've connected my Macbook Pro (MBP) to the Sonic modem directly via Ethernet & QNA-T310G1T (Thunderbolt 3 to 10GbE Adapter QNA-T310G1) and received ~5Gpbs.

When I wire up the
SONIC Modem
-> (via Cat6 Ethernet) ASUS RT-AX89X's 10G-Base-T Port
-> 10G SFP+ (via 10Gtek 10GBase-T SFP+ to RJ-45 Transceiver)
-> MBP (via Cat6 Ethernet & QNA Adapter)
I am getting less than 1Gbps
.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting this issue? Clearly it's to do with the router.

Thanks in advance:-)

Summary
Router: ASUS RT-AX89X
Machine: MacBook Pro 14" M1 2021
Adapter to MBP: QNA-T310G1T Thunderbolt 3 to 10GbE Adapter QNA-T310G1
Adapter to Router: 10Gtek 10GBase-T SFP+ to RJ-45 Transceiver

What's the "Sonic modem"? The ONT?

Sounds like the router is slowing you down. Maybe it’s trying to do security, packet inspection or something? Sonic only tests with our own router, so maybe contact Asus support.

As a test I would temporarily disable the firewall and filtering features (Aiprotection, qos, url filtering, etc.) on the Asus and test again over wire using the Speedtest app. I would also ensure its running the latest firmware. If speeds are still subpar you might try a different brand transceiver from fs, etc. or replace the router.
