When I have 'real' fiber

which has now been moved forward to August, I am considering letting my "landline" go and taking the savings that are inherent in that. At some point I remember reading/seeing the figures detailing the savings involved, but now I can't locate them. Could someone point me to the cost difference between Fiber with and Fiber without a "landline".

And, while I'm at it, what are better terms now. We used to refer to a landline as that copper line which allowed us to have service even without power. Now landline seems to refer to whatever phone we have which is not a cell phone, and conversations are constantly getting sidelined by trying to clarify which kind of landline....

Not having the phone line is cheaper for 2 reasons:
-naked internet is $40 instead of $50.
-as there is no phone line, there is no taxes and fees associated to the phone line.
So you would save probably around $25 per month.

If you have 1 Gbps fiber, you are not eligible for internet only.
You can pay and switch to 10 Gbps which would then qualify.

In case of a power outage, the fiber would still be active and if your ONT has backup power it would still work.

Internet only is $49.99 with no taxes or fees.

If you have to pay to upgrade from 1G to 10G and go internet only, the upgrade fee will pay for itself in about a year since you'll be saving on the phone line taxes and fees.

You may want/need to pay for equipment rental. On 1Gpps fiber you are loaned the ONT and rented the router but you can elect to use your own router. Not sure it's the same on 10Gbps.

Okay, so how do I find out 'what rental equipment I may need'?
I am trying to decide whether to port my landline number to Mint and it would help if I had all of my facts.

I just need the basic equipment to give me internet in a small house....no extras necessary. No back-up battery, no extenders....

Typically with our fiber services we recommend renting two eero routers to ensure good wifi coverage throughout the house. A larger home may require 3 or more to cover it entirely. In this case, we could try one eero first to see if that is sufficient and add a second if its needed. Our base model is an eero 6 and would cost an additional $5/month per device.

And if I need one Eero 6 my monthly bill should be $49.99+$5. ?

That's correct, if you do not own a router than at least one rental would be required and if you rent an eero 6, your total monthly bill would be $54.99 ($49.99 + $5.00)
