I am getting 10 gig service soon and saw that the tech will be installing a new ONT. Whats the difference between the Adtran 822v and the 622v? Is one better than the other?
The 822v is physically a little bit larger, but other than that there are no practical differences. Both are based upon the same core processor and have all of the same utilized ports and functions.
The 822v has a USB port which is not enabled, and also a battery input port which Sonic does not utilize or offer a battery module for.
The reason there are two variants in the field is that one became available before the other from the manufacturer, and we had to wait a while for the our desired, cost-optimized configuration, which is the 622. The 822 has those extra functions that we do not use, and it came at a higher cost as a result.
