Construction for 10GbE fiber in San Leandro

There has been quite a bit of construction on Davis street outside my neighborhood in San Leandro recently and it looks like it's work being done for fiber. The construction update page for my area has an updated live date of December 2023. but it would be nice to get a little bit more information on the progress of the construction. It has been so frustratingly vague over the almost 2 year or so wait since I pre-ordered 10gbe fiber from Sonic, and the live date getting pushed by 5-ish times.

That being said, the current estimate for December is subject to change but exciting nonetheless and a good indicator that we are approaching the finish line. I would argue that the forum needs a sticky thread called "when will fiber be installed in location xyz" with that answer as the initial post.

Construction that requires a permit isn't easy. Construction on a city-wide level that requires multiple permits is especially not easy. Construction on a city-wide level that requires multiple permits in the Bay Area is a whole other ball of wax. Normally, only companies like AT&T, Comcast, and PG&E can pull off stuff like this; and I'm sure it's equally hard for them. Meanwhile, there's Sonic, which started as a tiny little reseller of dsl. They're a bit bigger now, but nowhere near the scale of the others. Despite all that, they're doing a damn good job of rolling out fiber across the Bay Area on a relatively fast timeline. Heck, AT&T beat them to my neighborhood by several years but only hit a few streets; they still don't have full coverage here. From what I've seen in the past year, Sonic has hit most if not all of my neighborhood.

Patience is most definitely warranted here. Doing what they're doing isn't easy, but they're doing a damn good job of it if you look at the big picture.

Mmm I guess I could be more clear about what I was asking for but my intention of the post wasn't because I felt like they've wronged me or anything.

And I understand that my reply to their response was rude.

It's just being left in the dark about something we're excited for, for this amount of time, kinda just sucks.

I am hoping they can shine more like on the progress, if there is anything they can let us know about it. Construction has clearly started in my area, it'd be nice to know about the progress and what's going on, or what's slowing it down, or maybe what areas of my neighborhood would be worked on first so that there's something to follow instead of just looking at an ever changing date every time they send us the email.

Its Nov. 2023 and its been a year now since the last comment posted. Do we have any updates and will we get service next month on Dec. 2023? I pre-ordered and the status shows it is in Pre-Construction. How long will it take from there? Please share what you know to the community! thank you.

Man, sonic let me sign up like six months ago and fiberstatus hasn't moved at all since then.

ATT and Comcast "gigabit" connection has 25 upstream lol. But Comcast is apparently working on getting fiber access to my area currently.

You snooze you lose Sonic. Hurry up please. I heard like the boonies in Texas has fiber. This is like the bay fucking area. It's absurd on how all ISPs been stagnant w fiber access.

Hello! It seems that both of your areas are still in Pre-construction. This is the longer step of our construction process as we need to get permits and work with the city to deploy fiber. I sadly do not have an exact update on any delays but I will update you once i have something.
