When I originally had my fiber service installed, I received the AT&T BGW320-505 router. Is that still the router that is being used for the fiber service? I ask because I am not happy with the BGW320-505's performance. The WIFI is terrible and I can not get good signal to the upstairs bedroom. I've also had to reboot it multiple times recently due to extremely degraded performance (I blame the router since everything came back to normal after the reboot).

Hello! We supply our customers with an Eero 6 mesh network with as many Eeros as needed. You also have the option to upgrade to the Eero 6 pro if "Tri-band" is something that interests you. Here is a helpful link that breaks down all of the Eero options Sonic can provide and their specs. https://help.sonic.com/hc/en-us/article ... ed-by-eero.

To add whole-home wifi units to your account, visit https://members.sonic.net and see the menu options on the left.

Hi, thank you for the response. From what I can tell from the link provided, the Eero 6 is a mesh WIFI system but not a Faber router. As I mentioned, I've also been having issues with the router, itself, having to reboot it multiple times in the past few days. Is my understanding incorrect as far as the Eero 6? Is it also a fiber router?

If the Eero6 is just a mesh WIFI system and it still needs the BGW320-505, how does it integrate with it? Does the BGW320-505 act as the WIFI router and the Eero 6 just extends the range?

Yes, the Sonic whole-home WiFi solution would replace the WiFi capabilities of the BGW - but it would remain in place as the router, with the new WiFi gateway connected to one of the Ethernet ports. Additional WiFi devices could then be connected behind that one, either hard-wired (you can use a switch if needed), or via WiFi mesh.

If the BGW is losing its connection or locking up, support can assist in getting that issue resolved or the unit replaced. You can start a text or email conversation or even a phone call, at https://www.sonic.com/support

Thank you again for the quick reply.

If the Eero6 is working with the BGW unit, I am assuming that the BGW unit will be setup in passthrough mode. Is there an official guide/documentation on how to do that?

Just did a search and found this, might or might not be applicable but FYI: https://www.devonstephens.com/how-to-en ... gw320-505/

Yes, thank you for that. I do already have some pointers on how it should be configured but when I played with it, it didn't work very well.

Since using the Eero 6 is seemingly an officially supported configuration, I was wondering whether there is an official guide on how the BGW is to be setup.

Thank you.

Generally, we don't steer folks toward passthrough mode, as it works fine behind the router. But enabling passthrough is also an option.

Note you can also use the Eeros in a bridge/AP mode, but this isn't something we recommend due to the resulting loss of some features in the Eero platform.
