Why is my sonic bill going up $10.00 per month? From $39.99 to $49.99? I thought I had the $39.99 price set for as long as I have service?

Hello!

Back in May Sonic had a price increase that went into effect. This increased the service cost for all of our DSL, IPBB, Fusion Fiber (1g/10g). This was explained in the invoices that were sent the months be beforehand. I am sorry that it was not clear during those months that the price increased. We are doing our best to ensure that future price increases are harder to miss.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Wishes!

I see it this month in my bill as an important notice.

There is no explanation for it.

I thought the price I currently have was set for life of service?

Hello!

Sadly, the price you sign up for is not locked in forever.

I have never purchased any sort of service with the expectation that the starting price would never change.

Actually, $49.99 seems very low, compared to what I'm paying. I got Sonic service in 2017 when Sonic trucks still had large signs advertising $40 per month. In addition to that was rental of the modem for about $10 a month, so maybe $50+. But the price kept going up, so my last bill, dated 7/9/2023, was for $87.09. That's more than a 70% increase in 6 years, more than 10% a year. Should my rate be going up this fast?

Do people not get WHO Sonic is trying to compete with??!! I hope these aren't the same people complaining about the duopoly. I'm willing to pay a little bit more for a competent, third player in the game.

Your very first bill was actually in the amount of $62.66. This was the total for internet and phone service, router rental and taxes and fees. There was also $10 discount for the first 12 months as a promotional offer. Therefore, the cost went up $10 after the first year. Overall, this amounts to a 28% increase.

Earlier this year, we did raise prices an additional $10 for all fiber customers. This was a one-time event, and we don't plan to raise prices again in the foreseeable future. You can expect the current price to remain the same for a long time. If you'd like to purchase your own router, you could return the one you have and save $9.50 on your monthly bill.

Thanks, Sean, for the explanation. I was just concerned about what seemed like continued large price hikes. If the price will be stable for a long time as you said, that is good. Thanks also for the tip on the router.

With the increase in fee, can I only subscribe to Fusion Fiber Data and not Voice? So the costs will be $49.99 instead of $59.99/month?

Fiber - Fusion 1Gbps - STI-0533844-5 59.99
Fiber Information - STI-0533844-5 - Data $49.99 Voice $10.00
