Still Waiting For Fiber in SF Dead Zone

After several years of waiting for Fiber, I gave up and went with Xfinity. I couldn't justify paying more for 5MBPS DSL than 10GB Fiber. The block East, West, And North of our block all have access, but our block doesn't. Our phone lines come in underground off the street. I keep waiting for updates about microtrenching, but it's been years and nothing.

So my question is: We used to get our phone lines coming in off the utility poles in the backyard. Then AT&T switched only our block to underground. These same utility poles run PG&E power, and Xfinity/Comcast lines to our house. They run all the way up the block and intersect with all the other lines including AT&T. Why can't Sonic run the fiber cables via these utility poles?
Edit: I believe the Sonic Fiber cables intersect at the North end of our block also with all the other cables/wires.

Thank you for reaching out. One of the most common reasons an address surrounded by fiber may be unserviceable is due to overloaded poles (poles with too much infrastructure and not enough support), but also aerial trespassing can play a part in this. There are specific routes when running new fiber infrastructure that must be abided by in order to not trespass aerially. This could also be the case in your situation.

You also mention utilities being switched to underground which can pose another challenge which is micro trenching. The following links are recent discussions that can provide some insights into micro trenching.

Our goal is to improve the quality of Internet service in America! By expanding our own Fiber, we are able to provide top-tier customer service, the fastest rates achievable in the country, and our award-winning privacy policy, all at an affordable rate. That being said, infrastructure construction is an enormous feat, and it will take some time to expand those services. Hopefully, we can get fiber infrastructure to your address in the future.

SF still isn’t allowing microtrenching. Despite a new state law that requires they permit it. In their defense though, CPUC regulations for underground construction are in conflict with the microtenching law, as the regulations require communication utilities to be buried deeper than microtrenching depth. We hope to see that conflict resolved eventually.
