So, I am trying to install a new router and it will not connect to the internet.

I set it to DHCP, and it times out and says it won't connect to the internet. Checking the router website and it says that some ISPs "lock down" the router MAC address, and that could be why it's bombing out.

Does sonic do this and if so, how to resolve?

FWIW after the new router bombed out I set the eeros back up and they are working fine.

I believe another way to ask this is, "Does Sonic require me to register the MAC address of a new router?"

Sonic does not lock down the router, but your MAC table might be full if you had a few different devices connected to the ONT over time. Just give Sonic support a call and they can clear it for you real quick.

By "devices" do you mean routers, or everything downstream of the router?

Because really, unless they gave me a used ONT with full MAC table, there's only been like 2 different eeros connected to this thing as long as I've had it.

And even if it's everything downstream of the router, I mean, we've got <20 devices connected historically.

But, regardless, thanks for the idea, I will get the tables flushed.

It'd be devices directly connected to the optical network terminal (ONT). So, the router, a technician's laptop, the replacement router, etc.

Please do let us know if having support clear the MAC table resolves the issue.

OK, the router tech support folks have me doing a few things, and don't want to interrupt their problem solving flow, will try this after all that is done.
