can not link to sub folders in my main directory?

I'm creating a new topic for this since it's not (I think) related to my other post about my directory:

I have a Sonic.net hosted domain name (http://www.mapbliss.com) that points to my MedeCart sub directory under mapbliss.com. I also have other sub directories under mapbliss.com that are linked to from my main web site.

I previously had an iWeb designed site under MedeCart that did not require the redirection for my domain name. My new EverWeb site does require the redirection, but lives in the same sub folder and links to other unchanged sub folders in my main directory.

After changing my hosting directory yesterday so that www.mapbliss.com pointed directly to my MedeCart sub folder rather than the old iWeb index file I was using, I can no longer link to my other sub folders.

What do I need to do to get these folders back online so my existing links to them will work again?

When you changed the hosting directory for mapbliss.com by moving it to the MedeCart folder the folders behind the root (now MedeCart/) became inaccessible to your web application.

Think of the structure like this where / is the root (or base directory):
/your_sonic.net_folder/public_html/
contents: directories you list above
The change you made caused the root to become:
/your_sonic.net_folder/public_html/MedeCart/
Therefore the directories outside of the root (MedeCart) are not visible to the public facing files inside the root.

One solution would be to move all the directories that you actively link to into the MedeCart folder.

I went ahead and linked the directories (think shortcuts) so that your pages load. If those are the only broken links then your site is fixed and you do not have to take further action. If you need additional assistance please reply.

Thank you very much for the linked directories. They do indeed work now. But I may still need to change things.

The way I use my folders is MedeCart is my main website, it's where I want people go first if all they enter into a web browser is www.mapbliss.com. I have other sites like the OregonLigthhouses folder that I link to from inside my MedeCart site, but I also want to be able to give people the direct link to www.mapbliss.com/OregonLighthouses. I also often create temporary sites outside my MedeCart folder like the YosemiteSlider site that I want to not have linked directly through my MedeCart site (the urls are shorter and easier to remember).

The problem is that the way my hosting directory was set up before, it would not link through to my new MedeCart subdirectory, even though that was the same location as my old iWeb site with the same sub dir name. How can I have my dominion name www.mapbliss.com go directly to the MedeCart page but also have anything I add above MedeCart be available publicly as well?

Create the folder you want accessible at mapbliss.com/folder inside the root (medecart) folder.

Thanks cdkeen, but that means all the existing marketing links I have out there to those pages outside of the MedeCart directory will be dead. A lot of them are in places where I can't directly update the link and stand to loose needed traffic.

But that's ok, I think I figured it out. I re set the hosting directory to the mapbliss.com folder and put an index.html file in there that points to the MedCart sub dir. So now www.mapbliss.com will lead a new visitor to my regular website AND my other sub dirs are now public as they are below the mapbliss.com dir.

I had tried this originally when I switched from the iWeb to the EverWeb version of MedeCart but my domain still always pointed to the old iWeb Welcome.html instead of the new index.html in MedeCart even after editjng that top level index.html under mapbliss.com.
