Seven pulses when I pick up my phone

When I first pick up my phone, before getting a dial tone, there are seven quick pulses. Does that mean anything that I should be aware about? Or, is this just standard for Sonic VOIP?

It means you have message(s) in the VoiceMail box.

Odd. I thought perhaps, but I see that I have never set up my VoiceMail box. I guess I can enable VM and then check the messages.
Maybe there is some kind of welcome message.
Or, perhaps I had it enabled for a short while before disabling it and there was a message received.
