$40/mo for 10Gb/s... Too good to be true?

Good morning all! I just signed up and had the 10Gb/s service installed, but I'm having a bit of a moment. I can't find anything on contracts or price increases associated with this service... Can we expect the cost of service to remain relatively static? I've been used to astound and comcast for so long that it feels weird not to know exactly when and where I am gonna get effed in the A, so I am reticent to let my guard down.

Thanks!

No, that’s not an introductory rate or anything term-limited. Sonic doesn’t have annual contracts, all services are month-to-month. You’d be free to depart anytime, but we have industry-leading churn here, the result of great customer service, a fast reliable product and fair pricing.

The last time Sonic had a price increase was almost ten years ago. At that time the Broadband service went from $30 to $40. It has since decreased by a penny to the current $39.99 rate. There is no guarantee that pricing will remain at the current level forever, but you’re in a very good position here. It’s the fastest, cheapest (and best, according to Consumer Reports) internet service in America.

So my neighbors (on the same property/address technically), that are paying $120 for Sonic are likely still on the old shared ATT lines? I'm guessing this means Sonic has upgraded the service between when they got theirs installed in 2020, and our installation now in 2022?

Yep, the resold services are more expensive. And once our own fiber arrives they’ll be scheduled to migrate, and see a resulting large cost reduction!

Since my neighbors are on the same property as me, can they just call in and migrate early? They got very jealous when I told them how much I was paying

They should be able to. I was in that boat a few years back when I lived in SF - fiber was activated before I was put on the schedule for migration - I called in and was able to get an appointment relatively quickly!

If we haven’t kicked off the migration automatically for them yet, they can find that in the member tools at http://members.sonic.net/

Hey Guys, I've been waiting a year for 10 Gb/s in our area. I've been a Sonic customer over 8 years with the first intro of 1Gb/s in San Francisco. My location to the CO station is less than 100 feet. Anyway my new working location is remote and the need to have high speed is very important for Database access and gaming.

So WHEN will you guys provide 10Gb/s for my location. (Need to make a change this year, if not possible) :o

Thanks,

Hello! We are still finalizing/testing the upgrade process for our 1Gbs customer to make the switch to 10Gbs. We have yet to announce a date but are seemingly right around the corner from having it "go live". While there is no additional monthly fee for 10Gbps service, you can expect a one-time fee for the equipment swap in the CO and premise. The target figure at this point is $299.

Is this really true? I think it is an introductory offer and price will increase after a year. I paid ~53$ (with taxes and fees) so far and exactly after a year it's ~64$.

And, indeed the website says:
