New to Sonic's 10GbE Service - What speeds should we expect?

I just had 10GbE Sonic service installed (Fiber - Fusion 10Gbps) with new a new fiber line to my house and an Adtran ONT (P/N: 1287848F1 - Manufactured September, 2021) on the wall. I use a Cat 8 Ethernet Cable from the Adtran ONT's "10G port" to a TP-Link Archer AX11000 (which supports 10Gbps speeds). The Archer router has an internal speed test I can access via app, and it shows download speeds up to 1156.2 Mbps and upload speeds up to 1083.5 Mbps. This is more than my 1GpE ATT service (upload up to 881.4 Mbps / download up to 916.6 Mbps), but not close to 10-times the speed. Is this the speed to expect? Or what can I do to improve this?

That particular router doesn't support 10GbE - the WAN port maxes out at 2.5 gbps. The other thing likely at play is that the CPU can't support routing at a higher speed, and it's also quite likely that the speedtest servers the internal tool connects to isn't capable of supporting higher line speeds.

Thanks for the info on the router. I'll look into updating that then!

As for the speed test, it uses speedtest.net (Ookla) which should be capable of a 10 Gbps speedtest: https://www.speedtest.net/insights/blog ... speedtest/

I also got 10Gbps installed about a month ago.

I bought a 10Gbe thunderbolt usb c adapter to test speeds.
https://www.amazon.com/CalDigit-Connect ... 05505c9d1e

I don't get full 10,000 mbps speeds, but around ~8200 mbps download and ~7200 mbps upload. I'm not sure if I should be expecting higher closer to 10,000 symmetrical or if its a limit of my hardware.

You'll need a 10GBE adapter or 10gbe router to truly take advantage of it, both of which aren't cheap to come by.

Here's a screenshot I just took with Ookla app on my 2019 16" MacBook Pro with the CalDigit 10G thunderbolt adapter.
