I updated to the most recent OpenVPN client, openvpn-connect-3.3.2.2475_signed.msi. Despite many attempts to repair and reinstall it, only opnvpn_helper.exe would start. Thereafter I couldn't get it to work properly until I uninstalled it, cleaned it out of the registry, then subsequently installed openvpn-connect-3.3.1.2222_signed, openvpn-connect-3.2.3.1851_signed, and then only with openvpn-connect-3.2.2.1455_signed it finally worked. Bonus, I traded TAP for Wintun and it works better. Luckily I kept all those old versions in an archive. Uninstalling was harder because it wanted me to have Admin privileges, which I in fact had. I changed Permissions to effect that.
