Hi Sonic Folks!

I'm a newbie at phpMyAdmin and have a pretty newbie-ish question.

I want to do an export of one of our hosted databases, and just want to make sure I'm not going to 'break' anything! I would like to export into a CSV/Excel spreadsheet. I see two options in the Export Panel - View schema dump, and Save to File. I presume I can use Save to File to get what I need, right? Or do I use the View Schema section and just save the resulting file?

And most importantly, I want to confirm that performing an export will not affect the integrity of the hosted data itself.

Howdy Geo,

It's been a while since I've used phpMyAdmin, but I'm pretty sure performing an export to a file will not change your database. The 'View Schema Dump' is for exporting the specifics of the database and/or its tables - handy if you ever need to import data into a new database. The other option should give you the actual data, though it may be missing field names. (There may be an option to include them in the export.)
