My IPv6 tunnel stopped working about an hour ago, are there any known issues with the Sonic.net tunnels? I am able to traceroute as far as the sonic end of the tunnel, but no further. It is working sporadically but is mostly down.

Here is a traceroute example:

Code: Select all

drich@morpheus|503> traceroute6 -n banjo.employees.org
traceroute6 to banjo.employees.org (2001:1868:205::19) from 2001:5a8:4:70a0::20, 64 hops max, 12 byte packets
 1  2001:5a8:4:70a0::1  7.058 ms  0.389 ms  0.453 ms
 2  2001:5a8:0:1::e14  26.487 ms  33.102 ms  25.299 ms

Came here to report the same thing.

Outbound ipv6 packets fail at the sonic.net side of the tunnel with "Address Unreachable". Inbound packets die in he.net at 2001:470:1fff:2::17.

The 2001:5A8::/32 prefix does seem to be in the global BGP tables (at least from the looking glass I checked) so it's still being announced, it's just that the packets aren't making it from HE to sonic for some reason. IPv4 traffic from HE to sonic seems to be working fine though.

I just posted this issue over in General as well to see if it can get any eyes on it. Support suggested that I post in General as the IPv6 engineers do check there from time to time.

Folks,

We're currently working on this problem. We had a line card in a router go bad, and it's no longer passing traffic. Replacement should happen shortly. Apologies for the extended downtime.

IPv6 is something that we're looking to bring squarely into the production network in 2013. Stay tuned for news on that front.

My systems are much happier as well, and I'm not getting timeouts from any of my connections. Thanks!

For those of you using IPv6, what do you use it for?

Free IVP6-only Usenet servers as a backup to news.sonic.net
