Does anyone know if it's possible to use Sonic's VPN on an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPad? The latest version of the OS offers built-in VPN functionality but my experiments have been, uh, inconclusive. (I used the setup info for OSX Lion here: https://wiki.sonic.net/wiki/VPN_Service ... or_Mac_OSX )

I've used VPN on my iPad. It worked great on iOS 5, but doesn't seem as reliable on iOS 6. I was always able to get a good VPN connection before I let the iPad upgrade itself; now, I find that it's not willing to establish a good connection from some networks.

A few weeks ago, I was in Hawaii, and I could not get a VPN connection from my iPad, even though my PC, on the same wifi network, had no problem establishing a VPN session using the Cisco client.

Thanks for the reply! Can't accuse you of being a hands-off CEO.

I can setup a configuration following those instructions and save it, but when I tell the iPad to turn VPN on, I get a spinning circle in the VPN field and "Status" shows "Connecting...," but it never gets past that point. So it seems we're close, but it's not quite working.

Any more ideas?

Odd. No, sorry, that works for me.

A follow-up to my previous post. Tonight, I'm using a wifi network in Sac, with my iPad, and I can make a VPN connection with no problem.

Last night, on a different wifi network, I had trouble starting VPN on both the iPad and my PC.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's more of a network issue than just an iOS issue, though I did have that bed experience in HI.

OK, here's a new wrinkle. I tried a little experiment.

I was able to set up a VPN connection from my iPhone (iOS version 6.01 - 10A523) but not from my iPad Mini (version 6.02 - 10A8500). The settings were identical.

Perhaps the problem is with Apple?

Quite possibly. Have you asked The Google if others are reporting issues using Cisco VPN on iOS?

The Google is helpful. The problem is detailed here:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/43 ... 0&tstart=0

So yes, an Apple problem, and it seems they've been notified.

And here I was, just thinking it's a network connectivity error!
