Another sad observation found elsewhere:

"It is amazing the tenacity of the marketers. If their number is blocked they just keep changing the number they call on by one digit. ..."

I had that happen today, from a collection agency. The person who used to have my number apparently doesn't pay her bills. After several calls from the collection agency, with no opportunity to opt out, I blocked the number on my cell.

Today, I got a call with the incremented last digit. That one pointed to "Marigold Financial." I called that company, and I was promised the company will call no longer.

Robospam from Dominican Republic CID, or so it says:

From D REPUBLIC CALL at 849-935-5808 on Wed Apr 24 12:18:14 2013 00:52 long.

I noticed this same CID was posted yesterday by redrobinw starting a new "Block Dominican Republic Spam #" thread in the sonic forums.

They hit me today, so I posted the number to this thread to make sure it got found and 86ed.

They're robospammers selling some kind of "healthcare products", unless, the recorded message is quick to add "you're not 18, or suffering from diabetes or back pain".

Since I'm not 18 (I'm pushing 70), and I do find their spam a pain in the 455, I suppose I can't use whatever this product is. ;^)

More robo spam: From ALTA CA at 530-388-1002 on Wed Apr 24 18:47:05 2013 01:06 long.

Hyping "medical alert system for the home".

86 'em if you can.

Thanks.

Also seen when I looked up the above bad actor (I am sure Sonic knows this):

"Please note that many calls come from spoofed numbers, which means the number you see on the Caller ID is not really where the call came from. Often people call back the number and get someone who has nothing to do with the call."

Dunno how to deal with that from the end user end, all we can do is tell Sonic the number we see displayed, right?
Or is there any callback validation possible?
Or is it helpful if we actually listen to the spammer and write down the number they tell people to call?

Wait -- are _guest_ accounts offering numbers to be blocked?
How does that work?

We don't just block everything that's requested. We vet each number before bringing the hammer down.
