I agree, this particular system (posting the number on a message board) does look very inefficient. However, using "collective knowledge" is more efficient than having personal block lists. Who knows how many robocalls we never received because the numbers were already on the block list. These callers change their numbers or spoof new ones very quickly, so your personal call block list is largely useless after you get a couple of calls.

We really need both, a personal call block list and a collective one. The collective one could be improved by just submitting a number into an automated system. With this message board system, I really have no sense if anyone is doing anything with the submitted numbers.
mcberch wrote:I just got Fusion Voice recently, and I was fairly sure that it enabled blocking of callers by number, but I have read through everything and all there is, apparently, is a blocklist maintained by a third party (Nomorobo) which is very inadequate -- so far as I can tell you can't add numbers to it, and it only works on robocalls.

Maintaining a block list by having people post numbers in a forum seems like an amazingly inefficient way to solve this problem. Mobile carriers enabled personal block lists at least 8-10 years ago. Surely Sonic has access to the same voice software through XO or otherwise; why is this not available to us? Even AT&T would block numbers (for a fee).

Anyway, if anyone is listening, the robospam I got today was from 510-671-8297.

I used to get lots of calls from numbers scattered all around the country from robocallers telling me they would lower my credit card interest rates. I reported them in earlier posts in this thread and you have done a great job at getting rid of most of them.

Now I'm getting the same calls, but caller ID shows:
Unavailable
Out of area

I remember lots of spam from "Unavailable" in the past and don't remember any call that I would have been bothered if I didn't get it with this Caller ID. Would we be missing anything important if you just blocked all calls from "Unavailable"?

415-830-6651 Spam calls from San Francisco.
I am frequently called by this number, at odd hours, early in the morning, waking me up. It is a spam call. They leave a message asking me to go to their website, which I have no intention of doing. I called twice and asked them to stop calling me. The calls have not stopped. Sonic, please block these calls to my phone...
